Driving Assistance package

Safely takes you to your destination feeling relaxed: thanks to the modern, intelligently networked sensor systems, you can enjoy the many benefits of conditionally automated driving. Numerous assistance systems support you as the situation requires, warning you if there is a risk of collision and intervening if necessary – for the benefit of all road users.[2]

The refrigerated compartment in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

Refrigerated compartment

Cooled drinks and food always to hand. The removable refrigerated compartment is harmoniously housed in the rear armrest, and holds 10 litres.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon with THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the rear.

THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the rear

Individual climate comfort for the second seat row: an additional air conditioning system extends THERMOTRONIC to four independently controllable zones. Passengers in the rear can select the desired temperature and ventilation intensity. In addition, the heating or cooling takes effect even more quickly.

The 3D driver display with ATTENTION ASSIST in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

ATTENTION ASSIST

The standard ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection system can detect typical signs of driver fatigue or growing inattentiveness on long, monotonous journeys, and issue a warning of its own accord. In conjunction with the new, optionally available 3D driver display or MBUX augmented reality head-up display, the latest generation of ATTENTION ASSIST goes another stage further: an additional warning is given if the system detects typical signs of acute microsleep with the help of the driver camera.

The beltbag in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

Beltbag

The beltbags provide particularly good protection to passengers on the outer rear seats in a severe frontal collision. When triggered, the inflatable belt straps widen their contact area with the chest and shoulder to nearly triple the size. This allows the loads acting on the thorax areas of occupants to be reduced.

The AIRMATIC air suspension in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

AIRMATIC

AIRMATIC combines the advantages of several suspension systems in one – choose between comfort and dynamism. The set-up range is particularly impressive. The air suspension provides outstanding ride comfort even on challenging roads, or a powerfully sporty performance. Practical: automatic level control according to load.

E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL

Superior ride comfort in any situation: E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL is a synthesis of comfort, precision and dynamism. Experience the first-class pitch, body roll and shock compensating effects of this modern, fully active suspension – on the motorway or on winding or poor roads.

The rear-axle steering of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon.

Rear-axle steering

The rear-axle steering with 4.5° steering angle adjustment offers three advantages: even more self-assured roadholding, significantly enhanced agility and, last not least, better manoeuvrability – e.g. when parking. - The rear-axle steering with 10° steering angle adjustment reduces the turning circle by almost two metres. This means that the S-Class handles almost like a compact car when manoeuvring. At higher speeds, on the other hand, you drive with the effortless superiority afforded by the long wheelbase.
