The drive system of the EQS. The engine of new mobility.

The acceleration of a super sports car with a comfortable range - this is made possible by the newly developed drive system of the EQS with up to 484 kW total output. Vehicles with rear-wheel drive have one drivetrain, 4MATIC variants with all-wheel drive have two. The high-voltage battery is located between the front and rear axles in the vehicle floor. Thanks to new cell technologies and intelligent energy management, the EQS achieves a range of up to 762 km.

  • Range champion

Always dynamic, particularly efficient on request: The EQS also meets the highest demands in terms of everyday suitability. With a maximum range of 785 km (WLTP)
The range has been determined on the basis of Directive (EU) No. 2017/1151. The range depends on the vehicle configuration.
, the EQS 450 can even cover long distances without additional charging stops. And if you do need to charge, intelligent charging management enables charging capacities of up to 200 kW both on the vehicle side and for the infrastructure.

  • Energy storage unit and damper at the same time

The EQS uses an advanced lithium-ion high-voltage battery in modular design. Thanks to its even higher energy density compared to previous Mercedes EQ models, it has a usable energy content of up to 107.8 kWh - and that at a weight of around 700 kg. This is enough for the EQS to travel up to 785 km (according to WLTP)
The range has been determined on the basis of Directive (EU) No. 2017/1151. The range depends on the vehicle configuration.
in the best case scenario. In addition, the battery is integrated into the intelligent thermal management of the EQS - if the intelligent navigation with Electric Intelligence is activated, the battery is preheated or cooled as needed while driving to reach the optimal temperature for efficient charging at the charging point. The innovative battery management software developed in-house enables updates over the air (OTA). In this way, the energy management of the EQS remains up-to-date throughout the lifecycle.

  • Intelligent recuperation

The EQS offers several variants of energy recovery by means of recuperation. In this process, the high-voltage battery is charged by converting the mechanical rotary motion into electrical energy during push or braking operation. DAuto facilitates intelligent recuperation with the help of navigation and camera data. This achieves up to 5 m/s² deceleration - 3 m/s² of which is due to recuperation (2 m/s² via the wheel brakes). Alternatively, the driver can manually select the deceleration in three stages (D+, D, D-) as well as the gliding function via shift paddles behind the steering wheel.

  • For highest ranges and maximum performance

The EQS is the first model to be based on the newly developed EVA2 platform structure. With different battery sizes and drive variants, the saloon offers electric driving made to measure. A permanently excited synchronous motor, a two-stage gearbox and the power electronics form the electric drive train (eATS). Depending on the performance level, one eATS operates on the rear axle and, in conjunction with the fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel drive, another on the front axle. The battery is installed in a crash-protected area in the underbody between the front and rear axles.

The optionally available MBUX Interior Assistant registers the occupants in the front seats. It interprets their movements and reacts attentively. For example, the reading light can be switched on and off without touching it. The panoramic roof also opens and closes without you having to operate a button.
