The ladder-type frame guarantees perfect stability and sturdiness in every situation.

The G-Class's frame is up to 4 mm thick and is held together by over 5000 spot welds.

With its ladder-type subframe, the G-Class is less sensitive and more resilient than self-supporting vehicle bodies, as well as unusually durable and with an excellent value retention. The ladder-type frame is, moreover, with the exception of the axles, the lowest point of the vehicle, so that no other components protrudes below it. This protects the body frame if the vehicle makes contact with the ground while driving off-road. To ensure the best possible anti-corrosion protection, the frame is powder-coated, surface-treated and painted. All cavities are filled with hot wax, the body undergoes cathodic dip painting and the underbody is given an additional plastic coating. As a result, the G-Class offers practically no point of attack for water, snow, road salt or Sahara sand.
