 | From its founding in October 2000 up to the end of 2002, the Singaporean wholesale company, DaimlerChrysler Singapore Pte Ltd, was responsible for the import and distribution of Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler passenger cars, commercial vehicles and parts in Singapore. In close co-operation with its authorised dealers Cycle & Carriage Industries (for Mercedes-Benz) and Chrysler Jeep Automotive of Singapore (for Chrysler), the company performs the Sales and After Sales activities for both brands.
Besides the Singapore wholesale company, there was another DaimlerChrysler subsidiary located in Singapore - DaimlerChrysler South East Asia Pte Ltd. It served as regional office for seven countries with the responsibility to supervise and promote business development as well as to provide central support services such as training, human resources, administration, accounting and finance to the DaimlerChrysler companies in Singapore.
Additionally, DaimlerChrysler South East Asia operates the Regional Logistics Centre at Tuas, which carries the full range of parts for DaimlerChrysler brands and serves more than 20 countries in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. |
Since 2003, the operation of DaimlerChrysler Singapore was integrated into DaimlerChrysler South East Asia. The responsibilities of the former have been tasked to the newly formed Singapore Operations department. The change means that efficiency has been increased while retaining transparency and autonomy between the different business units. This has brought about more benefits for our partners and customers. In line with the growing Asian market, DaimlerChrysler strengthens its presence in Asia and thus underlines its continuously increasing commitment to our customers in Singapore and in the region. DaimlerChrysler South East Asia has been beefed up to provide additional focus both locally and regionally. The new organisation will enhance communications between internal and external parties. |
The majority ownership of Chrysler Corporation was taken over by Cerberus, thus leaving Daimler with an equity stake and consequently renaming the company Daimler AG, with focus on Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and commercial vehicles. With this change DaimlerChrysler South East Asia Pte Ltd is now known as Daimler South East Asia Pte. Ltd. |
