BlueEFFICIENCY from Mercedes-Benz stands for pioneering efficiency technologies as well as innovative packages of measures based on optimising fuel consumption and emission levels.

The BlueEFFICIENCY models in the B-Class [1]

For the B-Class there are three BlueEFFICIENCY models available which are equipped with environmentally friendly technologies and extensive special measures: B 160 BlueEFFICIENCY, B 180 BlueEFFICIENCY and B 180 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY.

Efficiency technologies in the B-Class

The B 180 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY can run on both natural gas and petrol. Natural Gas Technology (NGT) has proven to be a low-emission and economical alternative.

Packages of measures in the B-Class

Depending on the engine installed, the BlueEFFICIENCY models are equipped with a series of different measures. These are for instance:

  • Intelligent energy management, e.g. alternator output control based on current requirements
  • Tyres optimised for rolling resistance
  • Improved aerodynamics
  • optimised ECO start/stop function with new operating logic, which switches the engine off when in neutral to save fuel
