As individual as cities all over the world may be, they share many similarities in regard to their transport-related challenges: a growing need for mobility is leading to a strong increase in individual transport, and existing transport solutions are reaching their performance limits. The inevitable result is a collapse in the transport system and an increased burden on the environment.
The solution needs to be a transport system which can quickly and cost-effectively adapted to the existing urban structures. The answer is Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) - flexible bus-based transport systems.
Whether in Nantes, France; Istanbul, Turkey; Bogotá, Colombia; or Mexico City, Mexico, they all have one thing in common: these BRT systems are already operating successfully with buses from Mercedes-Benz. In Bangkok, Thailand and in the future host cities of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria) our Mercedes-Benz BRT team of experts is integrated in the implementation of these systems and provide project support along the way.
