BusWay has been positively received by the people of Nantes and, today, the volume of passengers has exceeded all expectations. At the same time, the volume of traffic on the route from Vertou to the center of Nantes has fallen
significantly from more than 25,000 passenger cars/day (2006) to just 18,000 passenger cars/day (2008). This is almost certainly due to the huge time savings: instead of 40 minutes or longer by car during the rush hour, the journey on Line 4 from terminus to terminus now takes less than 20 minutes.

The original forecasts have been turned on their heads and the concept of attractive urban buses running in separate lanes has proved to be a great success in Nantes. Undoubtedly, a key factor in its success was the conscious reduction of the lanes for private transport users, which ensured that the acceptance of the new BusWay and the conversion of large numbers of commuters to this system was only a matter of time. The city is currently considering increasing the transport capacity.

Nantes has shown that BRT can meet passenger requirements in terms of comfort and traveling time and that it is seen as an attractive alternative to private transport.
